Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 April 2026. This policy explains what makebarchart.com ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use the site, why, and what choices you have.
1. The short version
Charts you make never leave your browser. We don't have a database of your data, because we never receive it. The only personal information we may handle is what your browser sends to our hosting provider in normal HTTP request logs (IP address, user agent, referrer), plus what advertising and analytics partners — primarily Google — collect via cookies if you accept them.
2. What we collect
2.1 Chart data
The data you paste into the chart maker is processed entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. It is never transmitted to our servers, never stored, and never logged. Closing the tab discards it.
2.2 Server log files
Our hosting provider creates standard server logs each time you load a page. These typically include your IP address, the time of the request, the page URL, your user agent string (browser and operating system), and the referring site. We use these logs to monitor the health of the site and detect abuse. Logs are retained for a short period and then deleted.
2.3 Cookies
We may set a small first-party cookie (or use localStorage) to remember your cookie consent choice. Third-party cookies are only set if you accept them through the consent banner. See our Cookie Policy for details.
2.4 Analytics
If you accept analytics cookies, we may use a privacy-aware analytics provider (such as Google Analytics or a similar service) to count page views and understand which pages are popular. We do not configure analytics to use your data for advertising; the integration is read-only on our side.
2.5 Advertising
This site may display advertising provided by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
Some of our advertising partners may also use cookies and web beacons. These third-party ad servers or ad networks have their own privacy policies; we have no access to or control over those cookies.
3. Legal basis (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing the limited data described above is one of the following:
- Legitimate interests — for security logging and abuse prevention.
- Consent — for analytics and advertising cookies, which we will not set unless you accept them.
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port any personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing or withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
4. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have additional rights, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. To exercise your CCPA rights, email [email protected] with the subject line [CCPA].
5. Children's privacy (COPPA)
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
6. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect any data we hold. Pages are served over HTTPS. Because the chart maker is fully client-side, the most sensitive data on the site (your numbers) never leaves your device.
7. International transfers
Our hosting provider and analytics/advertising partners may process data in jurisdictions outside your home country, including the United States. These transfers are made under standard data protection mechanisms.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on this page for a reasonable period.
